PLAYA DEL CARMEN

In Playa del Carmen the experience of diving is unique. The reef offers some diving spots at medium depths between 12 and 15 meters (40 to 50 feet), such as Jardines, Moc-Che and Shangri-La, among others, with some large schools of fish and a very atractive variety of animal life and coral.

It's in those same places where we go night diving, since its life variety allows witnessing the night behaviour of some animal which are not usually spotted during daylight, such as octopuses or lobsters. It is also possible to see moray eels hunting and, of course, to witness the marvelous spectacle of bioluminescent plankton.

One of the most atractive spots at a medium depth is Tortugas (turtles), a place honoring its name, since it allows the spotting of giant turtles in the area. Another atractive and deep dive is at Mamá Viña, a ship wreck at almost 25 metres (82 ft), where barracudas are a common company.

For divers who like deep diving and have the required experience for it, it is possible to visit Cerebros, Los Arcos or Pared Verde, among others, where we go as deep as 30 to 40 meters (98 to 131 feet) and where it's possible to spot bull sharks in some seasons of the year.

Diving in Playa del Carmen with Playa Scuba is only $65 USD and includes two dives (one tank each), gear rental and transportation in boat. Night dive is also $65 USD and is a one-tank dive. For security reasons, we only take up to 6 divers per instructor/guide in each dive.
